This certainly is one way to rig up some holiday decor. Artist Sachiko Kodama created this piece with oil, laced with bits of a special metal (a "ferrofluid") much too scientific for us to care that much about, and used a magnet to coax the liquid into a fabulous holiday shape!
Meanwhile, folks from San Francisco are rigging up their own holiday splendor in the Mission, on 21st near Church St:
